OUTER WEAR
Please make sure your child has appropriate clothing for the changing seasons. I know that some mornings it is 30 degrees and by noon it is 70 degrees or vice versa. It helps us if their change of clothes includes long pants and long sleeve shirts as well as a jacket or sweatshirt for cool days.  Also please make sure your child’s name is on their jacket or coat. A Michigan jacket will always get special treatment.

PLAYGROUND UPDATE
I have tentative good news regarding the outstanding balance due for the playground. We will not have to auction off your children after all if all goes well. The bank is hopefully going to loan me the money to pay the balance due and also loan me the money to purchase a new/used 12 passenger van. We are currently negotiating the loan possibility. On Jan.1 2010 state licensing will no longer allow 15 passenger vans to transport children.  So we must replace our beautiful green van. I know replacing that vehicle will break a lot of your hearts but it must be done. So I am in the market for a good deal on a 12 passenger van. Let me know if you have any leads on one.
Our playground build is scheduled for Sat. Oct. 10th at 8:30a.m. Attached to this newsletter is a list of the tools you will need you to bring if you have them. We are also planning on having the interns from the summer available to watch the children if you need to bring your kids. Sign up on the parent’s board for the build and also indicate if you will need child care. I am so excited that we are actually going to get it installed. Thanks in advance for all your help! (I will keep a list of the families who help and you might get a special award.) (Not really.)

HALLOWEEN PARTY
On Friday Oct. 30 we will host our annual Halloween party for all the children at CCC in the morning from 9:30-11:30. The party is a blast. We play lots of games, eat lots of fun food, and have a visit from the local fortune teller who I understand is extremely beautiful and looks a lot like me. We will have tons of parent sign ups on the board. We need parent volunteers to help run the games, people to collect prizes, bring treats, and so on. This party is really fun, so please plan on taking the morning off if you can, and come and play with us.
We ask that you bring your child’s costume to school with them that morning and we will help them get it on when it is time for the party. At the end of the party we will help them take it off and put it safely away for the big trick or treat night. All children are encouraged to bring their extra candy to me. Matt always comes as a hot dog.

GO BLUE
Thank heaven the Michigan football team is having a much better start to their season than last year. Matt and I went to the Notre Dame game and I almost had a nervous break down. Finally when we won in the last seconds of the game I burst into tears. Needless to say Matt will not go with me to a game again unless I am tranquilized. Remember your children are only allowed to wear Michigan apparel. I don’t think Julian and his dad got the memo.

PICTURE DAY
We will have a professional school photographer here on Tuesday Nov. 3 at 2:30p.m. to take pictures. You do not have to pay anything in advance. They will bring the finished photos to the child care a couple of weeks after picture day and you can purchase the ones you want or choose to not purchase any at all. You can have siblings taken together and if your child is not scheduled on Tuesdays you can still bring them in to get photographed. The photos are always very well done and parents typically have a hard time selecting which ones they want and frequently just buy them all. This is not a fund raiser for us so there is not any pressure for you to purchase any photos you do not want. You will need to fill out a permission slip to authorize the taking of the photos. The staff also gets their pictures taken and your Christmas gift is a large poster size photo of each one of us. It will be a gift you will cherish forever.

WINTER BREAK
I know many of you need to make arrangements at work for holiday vacation time. We have decided to be open until Dec.22. We will be closed Dec. 23, 24 and 25th. We will reopen on Monday Dec. 28th and be open the 28th, 29th and 30th. We will be closed on Dec. 31st and Jan. 1. We will post a sign up sheet on the parent board for the holiday dates. Please sign up as soon as possible for the days you will need. We will need at least ten children on those dates to open the school. If we do not get enough children to open the school we will try to find alternative child care arrangements for you. It is hard to believe we are talking about the holidays NOW!

WE ARE GOING TO THE MOON
For three weeks in October we will be traveling thru space. The gym has been transformed to look like the moon and we will be exploring the concepts of the planets and building a spaceship. Pleas help us by bringing in boxes, (the bigger the better, a stove or refrigerator box would be awesome) aluminum foil, paper towel holders, and anything you think might help us build our spaceship. Check the calendar for special event days during the month. It will be out of this world! I am such a dork.

HAVE A GREAT FALL AND GO BLUE AS ALWAYS!
